i am generally isolated from nearly everything nowadays and have no
idea (a) the potential scope of this operation among the new york
people or (b) who from boston is planning on going down there next
weekend, but i am, and i want to run a sonic proselytization session,
despite the fact that monster joe, while sympathetic to our cause,
suddenly realized that he's going to be in arizona. he assures us we
can still use his stereo. so this mailing list is nearly random, but
hopefully includes a useful cross-section of people who will notify
whoever else may or may not be interested (tony? lesley?).

for the uninitiated: the way it works is, basically, everyone sits
around in a comfortable, mood-lit room with a good stereo and takes
turns playing songs at each other. people generally tend to go for
their more obscure titles in order to show off, but you don't
necessarily have to be married to that concept; i played a frickin'
REM song one time. whatever you feel like sharing.

my new idea this time is to institute a cutoff - 5 songs each and
it's over. depending how many people there are we may not even
make it that far, but at any rate it makes the selection process
less open-ended.

we're trying to secure a turntable; further bulletins as events
warrant on that. and i'm gonna bring one of those headphone-jack-
to-big-stereo cables, in case anyone has mp3 action.
