why create an account? good question. i'm going to be rigging up some personalizable gadgets here in the fullness of time, although this login system is actually the first thing i'm implementing, so it's not going to be very obvious what the point is at first. as we go along it'll help me control who sees what, and so on. some parts of the site will only be visible to logged in users to protect them from robots, spammers, etc. plus some sections will be friends only, and friends will be able to edit some of their own information that appears here and there. not that some of them haven't already been doing this (miranda).

all are welcome to create an account, but if you're someone i know say so.

note: the password system is not what i would describe as secure, so don't use a valuable one. the email is for a forgot-password function (to be implemented); nothing else will happen to it. you don't have to give one if you don't want; you can always just delete and recreate your accuont, although in the long run you'll lose some personal records if you do that.

it'll log you in immediately and set a cookie, so you really shouldn't have to think about it too much.
